Total HIPAA Compliance Releases HIPAA Training/Compliance Documents for Dental Practices
October 29, 2014
Total HIPAA Compliance announces the online release of HIPAA 2.0 for Dental Providers, which includes options for Leader or WorkForce Training as well as Compliance Documents for Dental Providers.
“Most dental practices implemented HIPAA Privacy in 2003 when HIPAA first enforced requirements for safeguarding patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI). The law changed when the Omnibus 2013 requirements went into effect and many practices are no longer compliant,” said Jan Karn, President, Total HIPAA Compliance.
“The biggest gap in compliance for dental practices is implementing updated Privacy and Security Policies and Procedures, conducting a Risk Assessment, encrypting documents and emails that contain PHI, and most importantly, training their staff.” Karn continued.
Total HIPAA Compliance offers a comprehensive portfolio of compliance templates that will help a practice meet the required documentation as specified by Health and Human Services (HHS). These Word™ documents are easy to complete and include Policies and Procedures for Privacy and Security, the Notice of Privacy Practice, Business Associate Agreements, Risk Assessments and all forms necessary to create a program that protects your patients’ health information. This saves a practice hours of time and thousands of dollars in legal fees.
There is an option to choose Leader or WorkForce training according to the individual’s role in the practice.
Leader training is geared towards:
- Office Managers
- HR Managers
- IT Managers
WorkForce Training is geared towards:
- Administrative Assistants
- IT Staff
- HR Staff
- Dental hygienists
Both the Leader and WorkForce multimedia training are delivered online with scenarios specific to a dental practice. The training is filled with practical suggestions and is a great way to make sure your staff understands their responsibilities.
Training modules include Privacy, Security, Penalties, and Breach. Trainees can stop and start at any time during the training process. WorkForce training takes approximately one hour; Leader training takes approximately two hours to complete.
At the end of each chapter, a quiz to tests the trainee’s understanding of the material just covered. Staff are required to pass all the chapters before they can proceed to the final exam. Total HIPAA records successful completion of the course and results can be accessed by the practice Compliance Officer at anytime.
HHS has increased the breach fines and penalties significantly, and it is important that you implement this law to protect your practice, staff and, most importantly, your patients.
